Back when my wife was a reporter for the local paper, she dealt with some high-power women in the community who - and I’m not sure if they came up with this or if it started somewhere else (if only I had some sort of mobile Internet device I could use to look that up…) - took to saying to each other on parting “You’re one of the Buffys!”. The reference is, of course, to “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and the meaning is “You’re a powerful woman. You’re awesome.” Just like Buffy.
Maybe it sounds trite, but I’m a sucker for an accurate pop culture reference and, as a fan of the show, I thought this was great. It perfectly captured the central theme of the show and even presaged the series finale. Joss would approve.
Karen didn’t really run in this crowd, but they knew a good thing when they saw it. She was “one of the Buffys” then and she still is now.
