As someone old enough to remember when everyone used Blogger (lol, remember Blogger?*), I can tell you that this is why people who could chose to roll their own WordPress sites. Not that Tumblr has the day-long outages that used to plague Blogger years ago. Hosting WordPress obviously has its own problems, but let’s not pretend the alternative is all peaches and cream. All sunshine and roses. All uptime and lesbian ninjas.
